"Colonia has to offer a great variety of offers," said Minister Cardoso, evaluating the services and asking the local business community to reinvent themselves in the face of a difficult situation as a result of the closure of the border with Argentina.
“I am an optimistic man, and I know that there is little left to get out of this difficult situation caused by the pandemic. This department has a project,” added Cardoso.
Regarding Carmelo's specific project, the minister announced that in the next few weeks the International Interest Call for Development will be prepared for the development of a five-star hotel with a casino in the city.
The old Hotel Carmelo, which is owned by the Ministry of Tourism, would be used for the new facilities. "We have talked with the President of the Republic and we have the green light with this idea," said the Minister.
With the new project, the minister hopes to "return the prosperity we had."
