Future Law launches course for lawyers about the Brazilian betting market

Future Law, Edtech, focused on preparing lawyers for technological transformations, scheduled for March 22 to 25, 2021, the online course ‘Gaming Law - Direito dos Jogos’, aimed at presenting to the professional of the legal world the different possibilities in the betting market, building a career in this area. The course will last 16 hours and will include renowned industry experts such as Luiz Felipe Maia (Founding Partner at FYMSA) and Fábio Ferreira Kujawski (Partner at Mattos Filho office).

“Several bills are currently under discussion in Congress, including casinos integrated into resorts, bingo halls, online gaming and lotteries. In addition, in 2019, the Brazilian electronic gaming industry generated more than 1 billion dollars. From video games in applications, consoles and platforms, to traditional games, the Brazilian potential for this market is huge, there is a relevant niche that tends to intensify,” highlights Edtech in its call for registration for the course.

As the theme is multidisciplinary, the course will address regulatory, tax, civil and cultural aspects of the market, which impacts various industries, such as banking, financial, technological, government and entertainment. In this course, emphasis will be given to two main projects: Bill 442/1991, in the Chamber of Deputies, and Bill 186/2014, in the Senate.

The objective of this course is to present to the professional of the legal world the different possibilities of acting in the gaming market, building a career in the area of Gaming & Gambling Law.

The target audience is made up of lawyers, judges, prosecutors and managers of law firms and legal departments in the public and private sectors.

METHODOLOGY

The Future Law Methodology is divided into 3 stages:

INSTRUCTORS

Fábio Ferreira Kujawski - Partner at Mattos Filho Advogados. Master in Law of International Economic Relations from PUC / SP. He works in the areas of technology, data protection, telecommunications, intellectual property, media and entertainment, focusing on transactions and regulatory issues.

Luiz Felipe Maia - Founding Partner at FYMSA - Franco, Yoshiyasu, Maia e Silveira Advogados. In 2020 he received the "Lawyer of the Year" award in Brazil for his work in the Gaming Law area. Previously, he also received several awards for his work in the area of Gaming Law: Corporate Livewire Excellence in Gaming Awards in 2016, The Law Reviews - Gambling in 2016 - 2017; Lawyer Monthly at the Top 100 Brazil 2018 - Technology and Gaming in 2018. He graduated in Law at USP and has specializations at Harvard and Fundação Getúlio Vargas.

Lisa Worcman – She acts with a focus on consulting for companies in the technology and entertainment industries. Tax attorney, with expertise in digital law, the partner acts with the firm's practices in order to provide multidisciplinary service to clients in these markets. Her tax practice is focused on consultancy, transfer pricing, application of international treaties, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) processes, including crossborder transactions and business structuring of foreign companies in Brazil.

Maria Luiza Kurban Jobim - Legal advisor and member of the Study Committee for the Implementation of LGPD at TJRS, graduated in Law (UFRGS) and Master in International Commercial Law (University of Kent), professor of the graduate program at Unisinos and served as researcher at “Projeto Bingo” (The Bingo Project), conducted by the University of Kent (United Kingdom), subsidized by the Economic and Social Research Council of the United Kingdom (Economic and Social Research Council - ESRC) and awarded as the best sociolegal

Priscila Carvalho - Graduated and master's student in Civil Law at PUC / SP Lawyer, post-graduated by FGV (GVLaw) in business contracts and complex negotiations, lawyer, partner and coordinator of the civil business team at Cortez de Carvalho & Furegate, consultant and active defender of important clubs and organizers of championships of games of skill and fantasy electronic games in Brazil.
