Macau's gambling revenues drop 70.5% in November

Casino revenues in Macau fell 70.5% in November, compared to the same month of 2019. Operators running casino business in the territory collected US$844 million, when in the same period last year they had registered revenues of US$ 2.75 billion, according to data released by the Games Inspection and Coordination Department (DICJ). For the first 11 months of 2020, Macau’s GGR is down 80.5% year-on-year.

The figure represented a 7.2% sequential decline, with October GGR having reached a nine-month high of US$911 million. However it still represents the second highest total since January when GGR reached US$2.77 billion.

October’s GGR figure comes after China reinstated the Individual Visit Scheme for residents of Zhuhai from 12 August, all of Guangdong Province from 26 August and all of mainland China from 23 September.

IVS accounted for 46.8% of the 27.9 million mainland Chinese visitors to enter Macau in 2019.

Revenue results began trending upwards in October, when GGR increased 229% sequentially to US$911 million. Monthly GGR figures had reached their lowest point in June at just US$89.6 million, down 97.0% year-on-year.

For the first 11 months of 2020, Macau’s GGR is down 80.5% year-on-year to US$6.58 billion compared with US$33.72 billion over the same period in 2019.
