Important presence of bookmakers in Brazil’s football Supercopa

After 28 years of absence on the calendar and organized by the CBF, the Brazilian Supercopa that brought together the champions of the Brasileirão and the Copa do Brasil 2019 returned to local football. In Brasilia, Flamengo thrashed Paranaense 3-0 and the bookmakers estadium.bet, esporte.net and sportsbet.io took advantage of the high audience of the event to exhibit their brand through boards and sponsorship of Flamengo’s jersey.

The German sports betting website estadium.bet, which already sponsors the state tournaments Pernambucano 2020, Sergipão 2020 and the Atlético-Go (Serie A), Santa Cruz and Vila Nova clubs, was present at the advertising leds of the Mane Garrincha stadium in Brasilia, where their logo and slogan “follow your instinct!” were displayed.

For its part, EsporteNet also chose publicity in the stadium to expand its brand. The website had a permanent presence behind each of the goal posts with a 3D rug on the grass. The company also disclosed the news during the game on its social networks. “We are making a presence at the final of Brazil’s Supercopa with our 3D rug next to the goal posts. Enjoy it?!”, posted on Instragram.

Since this season, EsporteNet is a master sponsor of Fortaleza football club. The brand is exposed on front part of the tricolor jersey in an annual deal of more than R$ 1 million (US$ 230k).

As always when playing Flamengo and after a spectacular 2019, Sportsbet.io also participated in the match through the presence of the brand on shoulder blades of the champion's jersey. The betting house is experiencing a great period with Flamengo and continues to add success after the victories in the 2019 Brasileirao, the 2019 Copa Libertadores and now the Supercopa.

The final distributed R$ 7 million (US$ 1.62m) in prizes, divided into R$ 5 million (US$ 1.15m) for Flamengo (champion) and R$ 2 million (US$ 465k) for Atletico Paranaense (runner-up). It should be remembered that Paranaense is one of the seven teams of the Brasileirao championship that does not have any type of sponsorship of betting houses, together with Fluminense, Gremio, Inter, Atlético-MG and Ceará.

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro himself was at Mané Garrincha attending the Brazilian Supercopa final. He followed the match alongside Rogério Caboclo, president of the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation), and Sergio Moro, minister of Justice, and arrived to the stadium before the kick-off to follow Maiara and Maraisa's musical show.
