Opposition deputies criticize possible privatization of Caixa Econômica Lotteries

For deputies of the PT (Workers' Party) Erika Kokay, Zé Carlos and Bohn Gass, respectively from the Federal District, Maranhão and Rio Grande do Sul, the government is promoting the dismantling of Caixa Econômica. They argue that it is contradictory for Bolsonaro's management to say that it will not privatize the bank and, at the same time, signal for privatization of lotteries. Gass also congratulates the unions of Caixa employees for mobilizing against the sale of the institution.

Erika Kokay, from PT of the Federal District, evaluates that a dismantling process of Caixa Econômica Federal is underway. For the congresswoman, it is contradictory for the Bolsonaro government to say that it will not privatize the bank and, at the same time, signal for the privatization of lotteries.

The deputy says that more than 30% of the lottery's resources go to social policies, and Caixa is responsible for 98% of the housing credit for the low-income population.

Zé Carlos, from Maranhão’s PT, also considers that the federal government is promoting the dismantling of Caixa Econômica. For him, the Executive lies when saying that it is restructuring the institution, when, in fact, it is acting to privatize the bank.

The politician recalls that Caixa is responsible for several important programs for the population, and argues that it is necessary to fight against privatization.

In the assessment of Bohn Gass, from Rio Grande do Sul’s PT, President Jair Bolsonaro and Economy Minister Paulo Guedes are putting Brazil up for sale. The deputy congratulates the National Federation of Personnel Associations of Caixa Econômica Federal, and the employees' unions of Caixa, for mobilizing against the privatization of the bank.
