Alfredo Lopes, Tourism Business Council President

"Gaming and less bureaucracy are important to attract more tourists to Brazil”

Alfredo Lopes took office this Tuesday (17) as president of the Business Tourism Council of the Commercial Association of Rio de Janeiro, which will have 38 advisors in order to develop the state’s capital based on the promotion and integration between the various economic segments. During the ceremony, he announced that he will work, in this first moment, based on the agenda on the release of casinos, what he called “the de-bureaucratization of the events sector.”

Alfredo Lopes will have 38 advisors, who also assumed their new roles this week, to work in the development of the capital of Rio de Janeiro state through the promotion and integration between the various economic segments that have a direct impact on Tourism.

During the inauguration ceremony, the new president of the Business Tourism Council of the Commercial Association of Rio de Janeiro announced that he will work, in this first moment, based on three guidelines: the liberation of casinos, what he called the "de-bureaucratization of the tourism sector events", and, finally, the issue of Airbnb's "informality”.

“We intend to address these three relevant proposals for tourism in Rio de Janeiro by May. Gaming and less bureaucracy are important to further leverage the sector and attract more tourists. With regard to Airbnb, I consider it a hotel's street vendor, that is, it does not pay taxes and develops informally,” he explained.

The businessman recalled the difficulties that Rio began to go through with the successive crises after the 2016 Olympic Games and stressed that he assumes the Business Council to join efforts and contribute to the recovery of the city's image and the growth of important business in the city.

The inauguration was given by the vice president of Institutional Relations and of the Business Councils of ACRJ, Domingos Vargas.
