Deputy Alexandre Frota's proposal

Project destines part of Brazil’s lottery collection for children and adolescents

Bill 46/20 allocates 1.5% of the amount collected from all prediction, sweepstakes and lottery contests held by Caixa Econômica Federal to the National Fund for Children and Adolescents. The amount will be calculated discounted net premiums, administrative expenses and other transfers already provided for by law. The text amends Law 8242/91, which instituted the fund.

In addition to sending 1.5% of the amount collected from all draws held by Caixa Econômica Federal, the proposal also allocates 12% of the total prize pool resources held by Caixa not sought by the winners.

Author of the proposal, deputy Alexandre Frota (PSDB-SP), says that the approval of the project would imply a significant increase in the revenues destined to the fund, whose main purpose is the promotion, protection and defense of the rights of children and adolescents.

Under analysis in the Chamber of Deputies, the text alters Law 8242/91, which instituted the fund.
