Large panel call

Brazilian experts spoke at iGB Affiliate London about importance of affiliate marketing

The panel 'This Time Next Year, We'll be Brazilianares!', from iGB Affiliate London 2020 was another one that had the presence of the largest country in Latin America. Being considered a growing market due to the regulation of gambling, it is time for Brazil to discuss affiliate marketing to personalize the products offered. Debating on the subject were Angelo Alberoni (vivagol.com), Alberto Alfieri (bet.pt), Thomas Carvalhães (LeoVegas - Brazil and LatAm) and, as moderator, Witoldo Hendrich Jr. (Online IPS Brazil).

“This Time Next Year, We'll be Brazillianaires!” was the name of the exclusive panel on the local market that took place today (6th) in Conference Room 1. The topic was "Brazil: iGaming's 'sleeping giant' is waking up" - after the legalization of fixed-rate sports betting, what opportunities are there for affiliates in this single market?"

Witoldo Hendrich Júnior (Founding Partner & CLO - ONLINE IPS BRSIL) was the moderator of the panel where he shared his deep knowledge of the Brazilian market with Angelo Alberoni (Business Relation Manager at vivagol.com), Alberto Alfieri (Chief Operating Officer - Bet Entertainment Technologies) and Thomas Carvalhaes (LeoVegas Group Country Manager - Brazil and LatAm).

The premises of the debate included 3 central points:

• Practical tips for getting to Brazil: location, most popular betting markets, player profiles, payment processes

• How can you communicate effectively with Brazilian gamblers?

• Upcoming regulations: when will we see the effects?

For Carvalhaes, "the main message is that the Brazilian industry and the market as a whole would benefit much more if operators, affiliates and even gamblers unite a little more and show in an educational way what is the way forward."

According to Alfieri's opinion, “the panel was OK for the topic we are dealing with. It is an important moment for Brazil, for the Brazilian market. There is still only an immaturity on the part of affiliate networking, the lack of content made for Brazilians. We share the same problem with other operators .”

“It was important to get this message across to affiliates here, in London. I hope that this partnership with affiliates will provide educational content, and for Brazilian players it will happen,” added the Chief Operating Officer of Bet Entertainment Technologies that operates bet.pt in Portugal.

Angelo Alberoni assured that the Brazilian market is growing: “Our panel was very interesting to make it very clear to those who want to operate in Brazil that it is really necessary to be Brazilian. It is not enough to have a European or Asian mind and think that you will reproduce your strategy in Brazil. This is a market with many peculiarities, with its own characteristics. It is important to understand each Brazilian in a different way. We have several states that speak completely different languages when it comes to product consumption.”

“We explain here that as in the south of Brazil there is a much bigger culture for the internet, as in the northeast there is a 3G that is practically all over the cities. And this is important for you to start operating in the country. If you do not know the Brazilian consumer, you can have a license, you can invest as much as you can in marketing, but if you are not going to be the voice of the Brazilian, you will hardly have an interesting market share in Brazil,” stated vivagol's Business Relation Manager.

“I thought the panel was really cool. We managed to demonstrate that one of the most important things for those who want to enter the national market is to act, think and deal with the bettor as if he were a Brazilian. You can't bring a foreign formula because that does not work. The Brazilian is very regionalist, local, if you don’t have an image that we understand perfectly, the tendency is for you not to use it,” said Witoldo Heinrich Jr.

According to the lawyer and specialist, “another interesting message was that if you are going to work in Brazil, you need a payment method that the Brazilian trusts. More than that, a payment method that penetrates society as a whole because we have 60 million people without a bank account and credit card. And, in the end, the message left is that we need to talk to legislators more openly, more strongly, for us to join the chorus. In fact, what we need is more voices trying to speak more or less the same language.”

After the panel, Conor Mulheir, Conference Producer of the event for Clarion, expressed his surprise at the interest of so many audiences over what he saw in Brazil. “Today's panel was extremely well attended here, in London, which is surprising in a European event. It is not very common to see so much interest in a market like Brazil. So it is very positive thing for us because we see that interest is really growing day by day and, in 2020, it will only continue to increase,” assured Mulheir to Games Magazine Brasil.
