At ICE London 2020, Maia participated in the Brazilian Round Table organized by ICEVOX, which was one of the largest in the Latin American countries of the event demonstrating the general interest in conducting this matter in Brazil.
Maia addressed the need for appropriate regulation for the gaming industry and compliance strategies that guarantee its potential to generate wealth for Brazil, in the international scenario. "We have to decide as a nation whether we want to reap the benefits of this industry and do it right," he said.
The Brazilian lawyer was also in the news when the international legal directory Chambers and Partners published the 2019 Global Practical Guide to Gaming Law, with the main issues related to the area in several countries around the world, such as Australia, Belgium, Colombia, Denmark, Germany and Greece. The one responsible for the elaboration of the Brazilian content was Luiz Felipe Maia.
Highlighting the illegality of most gambling activities for over 75 years in the country, with the exception of lotteries under the state monopoly and betting on horse racing, the text also addresses the bills that are under discussion in the National Congress on integrated resort casinos, bingos, online gaming and lotteries.
The next February 26, the expert is invited to participate in the EGR Power LatAm Summit 2020, a two-day learning and networking event, highly exclusive for the main specialists of the Latin American gaming market that will be held at the Faenal Hotel from Buenos Aires. Maia will speak at the panel “Focus on Brazil: What can we expect for 2020 onwards?”, along with Thomas Carvalhaes (Country manager - Brazil and Latin America, LeoVegas Group), among others.
