Lotep's president denies company's link with the Red Cross in Brazil

In an interview to a radio station in João Pessoa on Tuesday (10), the superintendent of the Lottery of the State of Paraíba (Lotep), Beto Brasil, denied that the company has ties with the Red Cross. This statement came to light after the start of the 8th phase of Operation Calvary, which investigates money laundering through betting games allegedly authorized by Lotep.

According to the superintendent, who had a contract with the Red Cross, a social organization involved in the diversion of public resources in the health sector, was the company PSWI Tecnologia LTDA (Paraíba de Prêmios).

“The information we obtained is that there was a commercial partnership between the company PSWI and the Red Cross (…) Lotep has no link, no contract, with the Red Cross,” said the superintendent.

Also on Tuesday morning, there was a search and seizure warrant at Lotep's headquarters.

“The information was provided, the documents were forwarded. They took several files to analyze, and we are comfortable in that sense. And we will continue the work here at the agency,” he explained.

Beto Brasil also commented that sometime in the past year they spoke in the name of Lotep, and that he was concerned, but tried to find out the facts to really know what it was about.
