Among the new measures announced by the City of Buenos Aires’ government after the coronavirus was classified as a pandemic is the ban on all events of 40 or more people.
The authorities announced that the measure is taken for a period of 30 days, which are extendable and will affect the Argentine Hippodrome of Palermo, the nearby gaming rooms and the ship-casinos that are in Puerto Madero.
"We want to avoid the not essential concentration of people, that is why we want to restrict congresses, music shows, cultural spaces and activities with a high concentration of public," said the local Minister of Health, Fernan Quiros.
The city of Buenos Aires is one of the most important epicenters of the outbreak and therefore the Buenos Aires Government seeks to maximize prevention. According to data from the Buenos Aires government, this morning there were 12 confirmed cases in the City. In addition, about 140 people who were in close contact with those infected were under follow-up.
In Paraguay, casinos and gambling halls closure is throughout the country
The Government of Paraguay interrupted educational activities at all levels, and the holding of public or private events and shows with massive attendance such as concerts, musicals, sport events, political, union and social gatherings, religious activities and recreational one were suspended.
In this context, activities were suspended for 15 days in closed places, such as cinemas, theaters, conference rooms, clubs, discotheques, and logically casinos and gaming rooms across the country. For sports events, it was decided that they could be carried out without the presence of the public, according to the disposition of the Paraguayan Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare.
In fact, the National Gaming Commission of Paraguay (Conajzar) was the one that urged casino owners to abide by the Executive's willingness to suspend activities for 15 days due to the crisis caused by the coronavirus.
The recommendation was addressed to the owners and representatives of casinos, gaming rooms and other venues where people may gather. "We trust that the sector that involves us will assume the commitment to greater social responsibility," said the statement from the National Gaming Commission.
There are five confirmed cases of coronavirus in Paraguay, two of the patients are at home, three of these in hospital, and two of them are in intensive care. The number of suspected cases was reduced to 18, considering that of the initial 25, three were confirmed and four were discarded.
