The legalization of the sports betting market in Brazil should generate a movement of up to R$ 4 billion in the economy in the coming years. The estimate was made by Gambling Compliance and presented at the National Congress. Bill 13,756/2018, which passes through the Chamber of Deputies and formalizes the entry of platforms into the Brazilian market, should be approved in the first half of 2020.
Industry experts are optimistic. According to Victor Raimundi, sports betting consultant at BasketBet, the official entry of companies on national territory will attract new players.
"It is an attractive market, as it can reach several audiences, from those who play for recreation, or who use bets as a serious investment. Betting legalization in Brazil will make companies invest in advertising, making the business more visible," he states.
Raimundi performs analyzes and studies the sports market for two years. Despite the restrictions in the country, he has already found many Brazilians on the platforms. According to him, the moment is now to carry out a demystification work.
"Because it is not yet formalized in Brazil, people created the illusion that betting is illegal, and it is not. I have never seen anything intimidating Brazilians to act on foreign platforms and profit from it. The country lost valuable time because in other places betting is encouraged, it has a lot of publicity. But we will run after this delay and we will end with this pejorative view that exists around the bettors," he says.
