Since yesterday, Thursday 19 from 3:00 p.m., the largest hotel in Punta del Este and a frequent destination for thousands of Brazilians, closed its doors to the public. Since the beginning of the week, the spa and casino were no longer open.
In a new measure to combat the spread of the coronavirus, Enjoy in Punta del Este made the hotel available to the Uruguayan authorities so that it could eventually be used as a hospital.
Enjoy sources told local newspaper El País that the hotel was made available to the government to be transformed as a possible hospital, to use the beds and the rooms. The proposal was made to the departmental and national government.
Javier Azcurra, hotel director and public relations manager of the firm, reported that they have already defined that they will license part of the workforce (currently it has 1,000 employees) "to ensure the health of employees and their families."
According to the same source, the measure will continue "until the risk situation has ceased."
