Brazil’s Caixa changes lottery draws, keeps main ones and suspends Federal and Loteca

The coronavirus pandemic was reflected in Caixa's lottery calendar in an attempt to reduce the risk of contagion. The state-owned bank announced last Friday (20) the postponement and suspension of the Federal Lottery and Loteca and maintained the schedule of the main products such as Mega-Sena, Lotofácil and Quina. The organization said it will set new dates for the canceled draws as soon as the country's social routine returns to normal.

According to the statement released by the state-owned company, Caixa's idea is to mitigate the impact caused by the coronavirus by reducing the flow of people in the lottery stores. With this, the Federal Lottery, the oldest in Brazil, will be totally suspended for a period of three months, starting with contest 5478, which took place last Saturday (21). All tickets that were distributed to the lottery stores are still valid, but accountability will only happen after the next draw takes place.

Loteca is another product that will be stopped. With most international, national and state championships for men's and women's football suspended, Caixa is unable to organize its schedule. The draws will happen again after the normalization of the competitions.

The special event of the Dupla Páscoa (Double Easter) also had its date changed in order to reduce the impacts. The draw, which would take place on April 11th, passed to the end of the month and will be carried out on April 25th.

The other lottery modalities do not change and continue to occur on their previously scheduled dates. Mega Sena, the main product of Lotteries Caixa, had the draw of the contest 2,245 lasts Saturday (21), at 20:00, in São Paulo.

Bets can still be placed up to one hour before the draws, in any lottery store in the country, however, due to the outbreak it is recommended to do it only online.
