Colombia closes casinos across the country until April 15

The Government of Colombia ordered the temporary closure of establishments such as bars, casinos, bingos and discotheques, from 0:00 a.m. last Friday, March 20 to April 15, as a preventive measure in the face of the coronavirus pandemic to prevent crowding in this type of business. Violation of these measures will lead to criminal penalties.

The measure comes after the publication of Decree 420 of 2020, which instructs mayors and governors to manage public order in the context of the coronavirus emergency.

The national government ordered the temporary closure of establishments such as bars, casinos and discos, from 0:00 on March 20, as a preventive measure in the face of the coronavirus pandemic to avoid the crowding of people in this type of business.

"Recreation and amusement establishments, such as bars, clubs and casinos, are spaces where contact between people is greater and therefore are places that favor the spread of the covid-19 virus, so it is necessary to temporarily close them," said the Minister José Manuel Restrepo in a statement.

In addition, the aforementioned commercial premises, but which in their corporate purpose provide for the sale of food and beverages, must be closed to the public and may only offer these services through electronic commerce or home delivery, taking into account the sanitary measures that are in place.

Violation of these measures will lead to criminal and pecuniary sanctions provided for in articles 368 of the Penal Code and 2.8.8.1.4.21 of Decree 780 of 2016, as expressed by the ministries through a press release.
