Ivan Fogli Gerstner becomes new LOTERJ’s president

Since last Wednesday (8), Ivan Fogli Gerstner officially assumed the presidency of the Loteria do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (LOTERJ) replacing Kelly Christina Silveira de Mattos. He held the vice presidency of the entity and now ascends in office. Created in 1940, LOTERJ allocates 70% of its income to social projects in RJ, guaranteeing more than R$ 20 million (us$ 3.9m) for daycare centers, nursing homes and social projects.

The news was published in the Official Gazette of the State of Rio de Janeiro. Mattos accepted the position in 2019 replacing Sergio Ricardo de Almeida. This was her second term (in a row) in office as she had previously been president in 2004.

Recently, the company launched the LOTERJ DE PRÊMIOS, a lottery product with multiple chances with draws on Sundays and prizes exceeding R$ 700 thousand (US$ 137k). Having among the main prizes cars from BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Hyllux, which add up to R$ 400  thousand (US$ 78k), and also other models from Toyota Corolla, Renault and Honda motorcycles, the drawings also have cash prizes ranging between R$ 1,000 (US$ 195) and R$ 2,000 (US$ 390).

The Lottery of the State of Rio de Janeiro is an autarchy of the Government of the State of Rio de Janeiro linked to the State Secretariat of Economic Development, Energy and International Relations - SEDEERI, responsible for the administration, management and inspection of the game in all municipalities of the State .

Created in 1940, LOTERJ allocates 70% of its income to social projects in Rio de Janeiro, guaranteeing more than R$ 20 million (us$ 3.9M) For daycare centers, nursing homes and social projects. The Rio Lottery has allocated more than R$ 90 million (us$ 17.5m) in projects and donations to the entire state, benefiting more than 300 institutions. Even all APAES (Association of Parents and Friends of Disabled People) in the State have also received benefits for LOTERJ's actions.

LOTERJ donated more than 450 ambulances, vans and adapted vehicles to institutions that focus on people with special needs and patients undergoing treatment. Some of the benefited institutions are Riosolidario, Associations Pestalozzi, Hemorio, Child and Adolescent House, Child Pro Cardiac Hospital, Apae, Santa Ana House, Solar Menino De Luz, Lar Frei Luiz, among many others.
