Fecoljuegos, founded in 2000, is a non-profit and union-based entity made up of operators, manufacturers and affiliated suppliers from all over the country, whose objective is to protect the interests of entrepreneurs in this industry.
The project that would modify agreement number 4 of 2016 expanding the gaming portfolio of the online operation, to include in the regulations the live casino, meeting the requests that Fecoljuegos has been making in different scenarios on behalf of entrepreneurs, and that in recent years days has been gaining force. This type of games would mitigate the impact of the non-entry of money from sports betting during the emergency of the COVID-19, and would also help to dynamize the operation, allowing platforms to compete against illegality and generate more resources for health, the State and employers.
Colombia’s regulator Coljuegos analyzed the offer of online casinos in the State of New Jersey and countries such as Spain, Belgium and the United Kingdom, finding that the modality corresponds to the novel type of games operated by the internet and that "Live Casino complements the offer of localized gaming, without harming the portfolio of the options already allowed for the modalities operated by internet or in the localized games.”
At the same time, Coljuegos shares the message that the Federation has issued to it in the latest requests regarding the need to expand the offer of games with the addition of online or live casino, understanding that it is essential to optimize the exploitation of the monopoly in the current circumstances of social isolation, for which the entity has considered "appropriate to promote the sale of other novel games authorized by Coljuegos through the platforms of authorized operators and, thus, contribute to the generation of more resources for health.”
