Due to the pandemic, Marjosports suspends Corinthians sponsorship

Bookmaker Marjosports suspended its sponsorship contract with Corinthians due to the crisis caused by the pandemic of the coronavirus. With a considerable reduction in revenues and without exposure in Corinthians' daily life due to the cancellation of tournaments and training, the company informs the club that they will stop payments in the coming months. However, when the competitions return, partnerships will resume.

There are no football games, no training and now less sponsors' money. Corinthians continues to feel the effects of the shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the new coronavirus. At this time, four of the top team's 11 sponsors have paused their monthly payments.

According to My Timão (as the team is known locally), the club was informed by the brands that, during the stoppage period, monthly payments will not be made. And one of them was Marjosports. The technology startup company, which occupies the sleeves of its official shirt, has a contract with Timão until December 31, 2020.

Unable to obtain earnings on its business due to the paralysis of the sports betting sector after the suspension of all tournaments in Brazil and in almost the whole world, the company announced last week that it had to stop its contract with Goais and now it is doing the same with Corinthians.

In the last few days, led by marketing superintendent Caio Campos, Corinthians sought out its partners in order to propose solutions and prevent the cancellation of partnerships.

The club released an official statement:

"Sport Club Corinthians Paulista informs that it keeps all sponsorship contracts active on its jersey and has set up a task force to understand the needs and possibilities of each of its commercial partners, during this crisis that occurred due to the pandemic of COVID-19", says the statement.

The current crisis impacts Corinthians' finances, which were already going through difficult times. The club evaluates measures to reduce the impact of the stoppage of competitions on its cash flow. One of the options under analysis is the reduction of part of the salaries of players and members of the coaching staff.
