GAT EXPO Colombia to have virtual and traditional versions

In the midst of global uncertainty about the coronavirus, the Gaming & Technology Expo organization decided to postpone this year's edition to 2021, to be held on April 26-29 at the Cartagena de Indias Convention Center in Colombia. The academic content by Clarion Gaming’s Totally Gaming Academy will take place on April 26. In addition, it was announced an edition of GAT Virtual Expo 2020 for next July 28, 29 and 30.

José Aníbal Aguirre, creator and CEO of the tradeshow, expressed: “In addition to the announcement of the obligatory postponement of the fair for 2021, the novelty is that we are working on an action plan that incorporates digital and virtual as a business showcase, through of a 3D technological platform, with avatar experience, specialized in virtual events.”

“This modern technology allows the visitor to interact in real time as if it were a face-to-face fair, touring pavilions, stands and choosing the products of their interest, about which they can engage in direct conversation with representatives of each brand, generating qualified contacts between buyers and investors, ”added Aguirre.

"The face-to-face and virtual formats of Gaming & Technology Expo have the support of the Asojuegos unions, the entity chaired by Juan Carlos Restrepo, Fecoljuegos, headed by Evert Montero and Cornazar, chaired by Elizabeth Maya, who will actively participate with their affiliated operators in the digital event 2020 and face-to-face 2021, in Cartagena de Indias in April, to whom I especially thank for their unrestricted support,” he concluded.

GAT Virtual Expo 2020 will be held on July 28, 29 and 30 and will also offer academic content in alliance with Team Seven, a consulting company specialized in the gaming industry, led by Ana María Padrós, a recognized professional with more than 25 years of experience in marketing and operations in Latin America.

Coljuegos and the Ministry of Finance have issued regulations responding to specific requests from concessionaires and investors, making regulations and terms more flexible to allow temporary relief for entrepreneurs. Likewise, the regulator works to expand the offer of innovative games operated by the internet, allowing authorized platforms to refresh their portfolio of betting options, after the crisis generated by the paralysis of sports events in real time. The Colombian Government has thus given clear messages about its decision to protect the interests of the gaming industry, which, precisely, contributes with the payment of exploitation rights to the health sector.

On the subject, Aguirre said: "In addition to the state measures to reopen the draws, casinos and gambling halls as soon as possible, it is important to read the analysis of the IMF and the World Bank in relation to the slowdown of the economy in America Latin, since Colombia is the country that presents the greatest possibility of economic recovery for next year, a situation understood by exhibitors and sponsors, who continue to be interested in accessing the Colombian and Latin American market.”

The quarantine decreed by President Iván Duque Márquez has been extended until May 11. After that date, the organization will continue to be vigilant and abide by the provisions of the National Government related to the organization of fairs and congresses.
