Horse racing allowed to return in Rio de Janeiro behind closed doors with online betting

The State Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Supply of the State of Rio de Janeiro (SEAPPA) through the Agricultural Defense Center granted the request for horse races carried out by the Jockey Club Brasileiro for the whole month of May. Thus, the races will take place according to the rules of preventive public health measures. Bets can only be placed over the phone or via the internet at www.apostas.jcb.com.br.

The end of the monotony in the quarantine is guaranteed with the return of horse racing to its biggest stage, the Gávea Racecourse. For its next set of programs, 18 races were set, nine on Sunday (3) and nine on Monday (4) starting at 1:00 p.m. All competitions will be broadcasted, with bettin offer, to the United States, France and the United Kingdom. There were received 278 registrations, an average of more than 15 horses per race.

RACECOURSE OPERATING RULES

(A) Access to races
It will be allowed to be present at the racecourse (Tribune of the Professionals, Veterinary and Paddock), exclusively, two professionals that will act in the races, included in the schedule of the day, that is, Jockeys, Apprentices, Trainers, Groomsmen,  and Veterinarians (including autonomous with responsibility for animals registered).

All professionals must wear protective masks and respect minimum distance in relation to the people present. The exception is applied to Jockeys and Apprentices, when driving the animals, in the canter and in the race.

JCB members, owners, breeders, riding agents and the general public will not be allowed to enter the racecourse.

The circulation of any of those present will not be allowed in other areas of the racecourse.

After the activities are completed, which have justified the presence of the professional at the racecourse, he must leave in a maximum of 30 (thirty) minutes.

(B) Jockeys and Apprentices
Professionals, with a commitment to mount, must show up at the racetrack at regular times, to register the first weigh-in of the day.

Immediately after entering the racecourse, they must present themselves at the Medical Service in order to assess the clinical conditions and measure the temperature.

(C) Coaches
Only one of those responsible, for the registered animal, can attend the racecourse. Preferably it should be the Coach. If the Coach is unable to attend, authorization must be requested from the CC Secretariat, so that the Second Manager or Assistant can replace him.

If there are, in the day's schedule, several registrations linked to the same Trainer, the animals registered must be represented by the same professional (the Trainer or substitute).

The trainer, registered at another racetrack, must appoint a local representative to act in relation to the registered animals.

The registered animal must be presented in the Racing Veterinary area (VETCORR), 45 (forty-five) minutes before the scheduled time for the respective race, in which it will run. The tolerance time will be a maximum of 15 (fifteen) minutes.

It will be the Coach's obligation to monitor the collection of biological material, intended for the anti-doping exam, and must then sign the identification tags, as per the CNC rules (Art. 47 - letter m and Art. 170 - letter a).

(D) Claiming
The interested party, in acquiring any animal in a claiming race, must attend, with the respective bid (check payable to the JCB), to the CC Secretariat until 17:00 on the Friday before the beginning of the weekly schedule.

The claiming bids on duty at the Tribune of Professionals will not be working.

(E) Fiddlers
They must carry their respective badges, demonstrating that they are registered with SCC and the Administration of Horse Villages.

(F) Autonomous Veterinarians
They must carry the respective identification badges.

(G) Fines
