Venetian Las Vegas details health and safety protocols for reopening

The Venetian is implementing some 800 steps to keep the Las Vegas gaming property safe when it eventually reopens in a policy called the 'Venetian Clean Commitment.' Precautions range from increased numbers of emergency medical technicians (EMTs) to using thermal cameras to check for coronavirus-linked fevers.

While the company has yet to identify a reopening date, this week it released the Venetian Clean Commitment plan for the casino floor, hotel suites, meeting spaces, as well as restaurants and lounges.

“Our company will continue to adhere to guidance provided by the state of Nevada, as we look to data to inform our decision on when best to open our doors to guests and Team Members. It is not prudent to set an opening date without the appropriate data to support it,” a Venetian spokesperson said.

Thermal cameras have been installed to check guests and employees at every resort entry point, according to the Venetian. Anyone with a temperature of at least 100.4 would be subject to a second screening and a potential medical assessment.

Around two-dozen emergency medical technicians will be on staff, and the team will be available 24 hours a day.

Guests will be allowed to wear face masks and gloves in the property, though masks covering the entire face are still prohibited.

Hotel guests will receive a personal mask, along with an amenity kit that includes sanitizer, disinfecting wipes and gloves.

In the casino, slot machines will be arranged to allow for social distancing, while table games will have a maximum of three chairs.

The number of gondola passengers will be capped at four riders, and gondola pilots will wear facemasks.

The Venetian is not currently accepting any reservations, the company says, and employees will continue to receive full pay and benefits through May 17.
