Fortaleza debuts eSports project at Pro Clubs Digital Football Cearense Cup

The fan who is longing to follow games with regional rivals may be thrilled with the Pro Clubs Digital Football Cearense Cup that kicks-off today (8). Debuting its first eSports team with 16 players, Fortaleza ‘enters the field’ at 10 pm, broadcasting on FCF TV and the club's Facebook. Besides Fortaliza, Ferroviário and Ceará will also be part of the competition.

According to team’s manager Luciano Bertini, at the beginning of the FIFA PRO CLUBS the club has two teams, one considered as the main one with 14 players and the other as a base, which is where players are tested, being placed to acquire experience, including playing online championships.

“As a manager, I am known in Brazil for training players for the pro, including for the Brazilian team, and it is natural that the club will try to follow this course, so much so that we are in the 1st Cearense Digital Football Cup Pro Clubs 2020, with 2 players from based on the list of 16 allowed to register under the rules of the Ceará Football Federation,” explains Bertini.

Like the other modalities of Fortaleza, the eSports team would be presented now in April before one of the professional football matches in any of the two competitions that Tricolor was playing, Cearense or Copa do Nordeste. But with the pandemic, that moment has been postponed.

According to Bertini, after a video conference meeting, those responsible for the project at the club decided to suggest the tournament. “We had the idea to hold a tournament, inviting the other official FIFA PRO CLUBS teams in the state, Ceará and Ferroviário, and broadcast on the clubs' official Facebook pages. In that same meeting, we thought about talking to the FCF who immediately embraced the idea and the modality,” concludes the manager.

Several other ideas are already being planned, accompanied directly by Gigliani Maia, manager of the supporter partner of Fortaleza who is also one of the responsible for the eSports team. Manager Luciano Bertini detailed, for example, the existence of a Pro Clubs face-to-face project with official partner teams from the northeast such as ABC-RN and Santa Cruz, in addition to Ceará clubs, at SANA FEST 20 ANOS, which is scheduled to take place at the Center Fortaleza Events.

“Now, with the most recent approach to the FCF, we are already thinking about an annual calendar approved and organized with the Federation, with the right to the best party of the year along with other modalities. In addition, a project for a Pro Clubs school (face-to-face) for members and non-members who are fans of Fortaleza, inside Pici training center,” highlights Bertini.
