Macau’s Bureau Director, Lei Chin Ion, brought a little hope this week for a return to a certain normality in the city when saying that the risk of coronavirus infection in Macau now was “very low.”
On the same day, that Lei Chin Ion talked to the local press, the last patient under treatment for Covid-19 in Macau, a 15-year-old girl, was discharged from the hospital.
Macau has not recorded any new coronavirus cases for 41 days, and since the beginning of the year the territory recorded only 45 patients, none of whom died.
Eyes are turning to the question of when border controls can be eased, in particular with China’s Guangdong Province, but no firm timeline has yet been offered by the Macanese authorities.
