The Bundesliga already has a date to return: 16 May. It is the first major European league to officially announce the return of football after the downtime due to the coronavirus. The confirmation was made by DFL (German Football League). Thus, the German Championship returns with the dispute of the 26th round.
The first game to be played post-stoppage will be one of the greatest classics in the country: Borussia Dortmund x Schalke 04. It is worth remembering that Borussia is in second place, with 51 points, four behind leader Bayern Munich. Schalke is currently in sixth place with 37 points.
Last Wednesday, May 6, after a videoconference between German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the Prime Ministers of the 16 local states, the German Championship was authorized to resume its activities from the second half of May, with only confirmation the date required.
Training, not only in football but also in other sports, will be allowed again, but only outdoors and according to specific rules related to the care against the coronavirus. Bayern was one of the first clubs in the country to resume training, but on an individual basis.
Paralyzed since March 8, the Bundesliga was led by Bayern Munich with 55 points, four ahead of the runner-up, Borussia Dortmund. Leipzig and Mönchengladbach were the owners of the two other spots for the Champions League
The return of the German Championship is in line with Spain’s LaLiga, which is already testing on players, and the UK Premier League, which is still analyzing the best alternatives to resume the activity. French Ligue 1 was canceled, and PSG was declared champion of the season.
