New bookmaker “Galera” could become Corinthians sponsor and create special club website

After the departure of MarjoSports, another bookmaker that recently started business in Brazil may be displayed in the sleeves of Corinthians jersey: “Galera”. Unlike what happens on known platforms, a website would be created especially for Corinthians. The club would receive a part of the profit collected by “Galera” through the participation of people on this specific website.

Corinthians should announce at any time a new partnership off the field that will help the club to obtain new revenues. The negotiation is about to be concluded and the betting brand will be displayed on the sleeves of the team's jersey.

Local media Gazeta Esportiva stated that it is a newly opened betting company in Brazil called “Galera”. 

Corinthians will receive a fixed minimum amount for the partnership and will also have the possibility to increase its earnings, depending on the fans' activity on the website, as was done with Banco BMG.

During his participation Jogo Aberto show, from Band TV, the football director Duílio Monteiro Alves confirmed the agreement for the next few days. "We have been negotiating, there is one that is already practically closed, which will enter with its brand on the jersey. Our marketing will announce it; it is a good value for us," quoted the director of the ‘Timão’.

"New sponsors that our marketing has been bringing, had a very high value last year and this year will not be different," quoted the director, in reference to the increase in sponsorship values registered in 2019. The partnership is similar to the one already is made by Timão's master sponsor, Banco BMG.

There will be a fixed minimum amount for sponsorship and also the possibility to maximize this gain, depending on the adhesion of fans. In addition, a website will be created especially for Corinthians fans' bets, and “the club will receive a part of the profit collected by the company through the participation of people on this specific website.”

Corinthians will be the first club in the country to formalize and put this tool into practice. The tendency is for the same company to attack the Brazilian market and appear, soon, also printed on the uniforms of other teams and with a similar strategy, with the creation of personalized websites.

The space on the shirt destined for this partnership, yet to be officially announced, was previously owned by MarjoSports Live Score, a technology startup focused on the world of sports entertainment that had been linked to the club since April and expiring in December this year, but amicably, the contract was terminated at the beginning of June at the request of MarjoSports due to the stoppage of football.

It was already predicted by experts, last year, that the regulation of sports betting sites in Brazil should generate extra revenue for clubs that represents more than what Caixa Econômica Federal invested in football. With Law 13.756, teams have to win on two fronts: with sector sponsorships and in percentage on the volume of bets.

With the arrival of international betting sites in the country, it is expected that, in a short time, these companies will become the main investors in the jerseys of the Serie A teams of the Brasileirão championship. In addition to the financial contribution, another form of gain is guaranteed by law, which provides that 2% of the bets is destined for clubs.
