Brazil’s Federal Lottery draws remain suspended during June

In March 2020, because of the coronavirus pandemic, Brazilian staed-owned bank Caixa Econômica Federal announced the suspension for three months of the draws of the Federal Lottery, one of the most popular lottery modalities in the country. The other games, such as Mega-Sena, Lotofácil, Dia de Sorte, etc., continue to be drawn normally, with the extractions taking place in the city of São Paulo.

The announcement caused some frustration on the part of bettors who love this lottery, which is one of the oldest ones in Brazil. And even more because it was the only suspended modality in Brazil, with others such as Mega-Sena, Lotofácil, and Dia de Sorte, among others, continuing to be drawn normally, with the extractions taking place in the city of São Paulo.

In addition to being the only one suspended, the Federal Lottery already stood out from the rest because it was the only mode drawn out the 8:00 pm hour range. While all modalities were drawn at that time, the Federal was drawn at 7:00 pm in Brasília, therefore, one hour before the others due to the time difference with the capital city, with their draws always on Wednesdays and Saturdays, that is, with two weekly extractions.

There was an expectation that Federal draws would return this June, however, as already mentioned the notice of suspension carried out by Caixa, the new draw calendar that includes the Federal will only be released in July.

The last draw of the Federal Lottery took place on March 18, referring to contest 5,477.
