Switzerland’s casinos will be able to reopen from Saturday June 6 as the federal government relaxes restrictions imposed to limit the spread of COVID-19.
The Swiss Federal Council has already lifted restrictions on some venues and has reported no increase in infection rates, prompting it to vote in favour of an additional loosening of restrictions from June 6.
Casinos are among a host of venues that will be permitted to resume operations from 6 June, with amusement parks, zoos, swimming pools and wellness facilities also set to reopen.
The Bundesrat also said gatherings of up to 300 people, including sports events, will be allowed from tomorrow (6), while contact training for sports will be permitted. Professional sports are able to resume in Switzerland from 8 June.
Measures will be reviewed again by 24 June, with the Bundesrat set to further ease restrictions and permit gatherings of up to 1,000 people. However, it said events with over 1,000 people would remain prohibited until at least 31 August.
