The president of Canatur explained that the coordination meetings to establish a protocol for these establishments, different from that of the restaurants that will reopen on Monday, July 20, will be held in the coming days. He also said that the space in these places will be redistributed to respect social distancing.
Restaurants are included in phase three of the reopening, but other sectors like bars will have to wait to implement prevention measures.
“It is one thing to be served a drink and you can eat some in a restaurant, sitting, and another thing is that you go to the bar counter. You cannot have a drink as waiting at the bar because if there is a reduction in capacity, customers will be able just to sit at a table. If someone wants to wait, they should do it outside the place,” said Canales.
The Canatur president said that bars that open in August should close before 8pm. In this way, in the event that their activity is allowed within casinos, they must comply with two different protocols.
In May, the tourism sector in Peru estimated that between April and July there would be a 100% drop in activity, and a reduction in income of up to US$ 700 million in 2020.
