The creation of E-Galo reinforces the club's modernization project, which has been implemented by Atlético's board of directors, and will not bring costs to Galo. The expenses will be borne entirely by the manager and the sponsors raised by it.
“eSports is a global trend and Clube Atlético Mineiro, as a great sports power, cannot be left out of this context,” highlights Marcelo Machado, Atlético's executive superintendent.
The initiative aims to promote an even closer relationship between the club and the younger audience.
“We chose to establish a partnership with an existing company, seeking to reach a larger volume of spectators. We had a positive experience at the beginning of the pandemic with the PES championship and we want to promote new competitions for our members soon. Galo’s fans always embrace the club's projects and I'm sure that, with eSports, it won't be different,” completes Marcelo Machado.
According to Emmerson Maurilio, Multimedia manager at Atlético, the athletics community in electronic sports is very active, which will contribute significantly to the development of E-Galo.
“Atlético already has a strong community in electronic sports and that could boost the project. It is an area that was already established and saw its growth curve increase even more during the pandemic. E-Galo will be a very important tool to strengthen this niche and further structure the content grid of TV Galo, including live broadcasts, and of the club's social networks,” he highlights.
According to Newzoo, the global marketing agency specializing in the sport, global revenue from electronic sports will grow to US$ 1.1 billion in 2020, with a 15.7% growth compared to 2019. Globally, the total audience of eSports will grow to 495 million people in 2020.
Newzoo states that Brazil is the third country in the world with the most eSports players - estimated at 66 million people - and also the third with the most enthusiasts of the sport - 7.6 million people watching professional content more than once a month.
E-Galo has the following schedule at the Clutch Circuit's CS: GO Brasileirão, which will be broadcast on Twitch:
