São Paulo Jockey Club and Caliente 3-year deal

Cidade Jardim and JCSP accredited agencies will offer international simulcasting

After months of negotiations led by Benjamin Steinbruch and José Carlos Lodi Fragoso Pires, the São Paulo Jockey Club (JCSP) signed a partnership with Agua Caliente Racecourse to explore International Simulcasting. The agreement, which was signed for 3 years last week, will make it possible to offer the main international equestrian events, such as Kentucky Derby, Preakness, Belmont Stakes, Breeders' Cup and Dubai World Cup.

The regulars of Cidade Jardim and of the Accredited Agencies, in addition to the local races and the National Simulcasting, will have on average another 70 races per day, broadcast between 2:00 pm and midnight. According to the equestrian calendar, broadcasts are foreseen directly from the racetracks of Saratoga, Aqueduct, Belmont Park, Santa Anita, Gulfstream, Churchill Downs, Maroñas, Australia, among others.

International Simulcasting, authorized in Normative Instruction no. 48 of September 8, 2008 by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA) will enable an increase in the revenues of the JCSP and its Accredited Agents.

The Caliente group will provide part of the necessary equipment for the broadcast of images and capture of bets.

The agreement also provides that the JCSP will have the option of contracting a new betting service from United Tote (Churchill Downs Group) and using the equipment already installed to operate the national races.

According to Benjamin Steinbruch, with the measure, the JCSP takes an important step towards the development of equestrian activity and the strengthening of the accredited network.

José Carlos Pires states that the greater product offer will make Accredited Agents triple their revenue. "I am sure that soon we will have new and modern agencies and the biggest beneficiary will be our turf partners," he said.

The negotiations had the assistance of José Vernucci, who guided and encouraged the partnership.
