Lottery retailers sector questions Caixa about LOTEX's future

Journalist Joana Cunha, in the Folha de S.Paulo's Painel SA column, says that the owners of lottery stores are waiting for Caixa to take a stand on the future of LOTEX, the instant lottery known as scratch cards that the government sold to the Estrela Instantânea consortium, formed by IGT and Scientific Games, about a year ago. Cunha reveals that the president of Febralot (Brazilian Federation of Lottery Companies) sent a letter to the bank asking for a definitive position.

According to Febralot, until today Caixa has not yet informed them clearly whether lottery retailers will be able to sell the product in their stores by receiving commission.

Jodismar Amaro, president of Febralot, says that he sent a letter to the bank asking for a definitive position, but got no response yet.

When contacted by Folha de S.Paulo's Painel S.A. column, Caixa did not comment.

It is worth remembering that during the third webinar of the “Agora Brasil” cycle, organized by GMB, Roberto Quattrini, Country Manager at IGT and representative of the Estrela Instantânea Consortium with Scientific Games, stated that the crisis generated by COVID-19 delayed the LOTEX launch plans. However, he revealed that the idea is to have the product on the market between November this year and January 2021.

"We have very aggressive plans, and LOTEX will be the largest gambling network in Brazil," promised Quattrini last July.
