The new development will be located between La Paloma and Chuy and, according to Cardoso, "it is a long-awaited work for many years." In addition, he confirmed that the calendar for the start-up and execution of the hotel project begins on September 23 with the opening of the international call for investors, and that the idea is that as many interested parties as possible be present.
The specifications will be made public through the websites of the Presidency of the Republic and the Ministry of Tourism, with a period of 60 days for the receipt of initiatives.
“Rocha is a jewel that the country has in terms of biodiversity, nature, and resources. We have made every effort to give it this necessary impetus for development, but with sufficient and balanced care for the environment and natural resources,” added Cardoso.
The minister affirmed that everything possible is being done to enhance the oceanic coast of Rocha. He added that, as a Government and as a State, every effort was made to carry out this megaproject and that the presentation of the largest possible number of bidders is expected.
Cardoso also stated that when the pandemic gives way to normality “Uruguay, due to the good prestige it acquired in the region and the world, will be called upon to receive a strong boost and development from the point of view of tourism and investments related to the tourism sector."
