Peru approves protocol for the reopening of gaming rooms

The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) of Peru approved the 'Sectorial Sanitary Protocol against COVID-19 for gaming halls', included in the fourth phase of economic reactivation, although still there is no a defined date for the establishments to return to business. According to the new rules, slot machines and casinos will be able to start their activities with a maximum capacity of 50%.

The guidelines confirmed in Ministerial Resolution No. 196-2020-MINCETUR will be enforceable when the resumption of this type of activities is ordered. 

According to the protocol, slots and casinos may start their activities with a maximum capacity of 50%.

Among the main measures that companies in the sector must comply with are:

- Prepare a surveillance and prevention plan against COVID-19.

- Take the temperature before entering the room.

- Guarantee point of washing or disinfection of hands and ways for disinfecting footwear at the entrance of the room.

- Carry out the cleaning and disinfection program for all areas.

- Disinfect slot machines, gaming tables and chairs after use.

- The gaming room will have to be kept naturally ventilated or clean air recirculation.

Regarding the distance, it is required 1 meter between people, who must wear a mask at all times. Therefore, the gaming machines and tables will have to be placed at that distance.

As for the staff, their information must be recorded to allow traceability in case of suspicion or confirmation of contagion and consent must be requested for the use of personal data.

Likewise, the suppliers of these companies must have proof of resumption of activities in accordance with the COVID-19 protocols.
