Corinthians eSports division will have professional virtual football team

After announcing the sale of the naming rights of the Itaquera Arena, which is now called Neo Química Arena, Corinthians also have news in the eSports sector, which has already brought results with the world title of Free Fire. The club will announce the creation of Corinthians E-Football, a team that will represent the club in the virtual football fields. The team will be present on the Pro Evolution Soccer platform, one of the club's professional football sponsors.

With this, ‘Timão’ will be the first football club in Brazil to create a Virtual Football Department complete with players following an athlete's routine, with support from a training center, coach and assistance from health professionals and sports performance. The headquarters of Corinthians E-Football will be inside the CT Dr. Joaquim Grava.

"We are very happy to have this new structure and expansion in virtual football, which is vital for the continuity and perpetuity of our eSports teams. Despite already having Felipe Mestre as the first athlete in the segment and then with the already winning team of FreeFire, having the foot, or rather the hands, in the modality that is our main core business was something natural for a competitive market that is increasingly developed," celebrated Alex Watanabe, Marketing Director of Corinthians.

Corinthians' virtual football team will work on the Pro Evolution Soccer platform, one of the club's professional football sponsors. Felipe Mestre, who has defended ‘Timão’ in a partnership format, Bruninho Futefacil and Ghalbim are the club’s confirmed names. The project will also count on the participation of youtuber Afonso Games, which will start producing exclusive content for Corinthians' official platforms.

The ‘Alvinegro’ also has a partnership with TTB Branded Content, an agency that operates in the development of the gaming market in Brazil specializing in virtual football. The relationship between the company and the club will also focus on generating content and interacting with the public.

"Corinthians is not the first team to create a virtual football team, but I certainly guarantee that it is the first to do it in a more professional way and with a focus on the franchise developed by Konami, which is one of the club's sponsors. The model, without a doubt, will soon be followed by other teams, as it is focused on the growth of the sport, on the athletes' performance and on the return of sponsors," explained Felipe Carvalho, TTB's CEO.

"Our idea is to make the Corinthians fan who loves football embrace the project. Cheer, vibrate and feel represented by this team. The club set up this structure to compete at a high level in the E-Football Player League, which will be announced soon and promises to professionalize the sport in the country. For us, football and virtual football are just one sport. They have the same rules and arouse the same feelings of competition and rivalry. I'm sure that when the ball rolls in the video game, there will be bunch of crazy people vibrating," he added.
