"Betcris grows in Brazil with tropicalized products and aimed at a highly engaged audience"

In an exclusive interview with GMB, Fernando Garita, Head of Business Development at Betcris, says he believes that regulation is advancing in several countries and admits that it will bring a great benefit to Brazil, as it is one of the most attractive markets in Latin America. For him, investments will grow and companies that know and understand the Brazilian customer will be successful. “The Brazilian market is one of the most attractive in Latin America and certainly the investments and income must be proportional,” assures Garita.

GMB - With what expectations does 2021 begin, after a year to forget?

- This 2021 we continue to focus on emerging markets as well as improving internal processes and products for our customers. Although 2020 was a difficult year, we trust that in 2021 the industry will resume its activity in this new normality. The regulatory processes are advancing positively in several countries and we hope both for Betcris and for the entire industry to be a great year.

Is Betcris better prepared than before to deal with outbreaks or the continuation of the pandemic? Will there be a change in strategy?
The strategy remains. The preventive change of our employees to work remotely during 2020 happened in a quick and structured way thanks to the Human Resources teams and Technical staff, as well as the support of the work teams, our team has adapted very well. In this year 2021 we will follow a large percentage remotely, but we will also continue to strengthen processes and add specialized tools for this work format.

What projects / ideas is Betcris working on to launch this year?
The entry into some markets continues, which during 2020 we strategically decided to leave for this 2021. In terms of ideas, we have several campaigns and efforts located both regionally and by country, always very focused on our customers.

 

 

Do you believe that the penetration of online gambling will increase while the land-based will maintain its limitations on public entry?
Online is here to stay. The physical points came back gradually, but in a different way, where retail will function more as a channel for conversion, collection, and payment. Cases of successful self-sufficient customers are increasingly common, and we consider following an approach where the customer has the ability to carry out the entire process, from opening an account, reloading and selecting the game of their choice.

Do you think that this year in Brazil there will be a definite takeoff towards a regulated gambling market? Will Betcris' presence / investment grow in the country throughout 2021?
Brazil and the government are clear that the regulation will bring great benefit in many areas and are making efforts to move forward until the middle of this year. The Brazilian market regulated for us, operators, and all parallel development verticals is undoubtedly one of the most attractive in Latin America, and certainly investments and income must be proportionate, as well as the companies' focus on knowing and understanding their customers. As I heard once, you don't have to speak Portuguese, you have to speak 'Brazilian' and this will be our focus, with tropicalized products and aimed at this highly engaged audience.
