A group of renowned experts will discuss next Monday the current stage of the fight against the manipulation of results in football matches in Latin America, one of the most engaged regions in the world of football and where the growth of the sports betting sector has been demanding that such practice be abolished.

Integrity in sports has been increasingly sought after by all actors involved, whether they are federations, regulators, sports betting operators, FIFA and even the United Nations.

On the subject, FIFA and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime launched in December a broad campaign called “Detecta. Decline. Report it" to engage players, coaches and referees to recognize, reject and report manipulation in matches.

In the context of the effects that football has had due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the economic uncertainty and the greatest risk to integrity faced by many players and clubs across the globe, the campaign led the public involved with the sport the confidential platforms available to denounce proposals for possible attempts to arrange results.

Thus, the theme is one of the most current and will include the participation of Percy Wilman, Director of Integrity for Latin America at Genius Sports; Ennio Bovolenta, Director of Integrity, Legal and Compliance Division at FIFA; and Ricardo de Buen, Director of Integrity of Sport in Mexico.

The event will take place on January 25 at 1:00 pm (Brasilia official time) through the Zoom platform. Free registrations can be made by email: [email protected].
