After death of Sheldon Adelson

Las Vegas Sands appoints Robert Goldstein as CEO

Las Vegas Sands Corp, the world’s largest casino company, on Tuesday named its long-time executive Robert Goldstein, as chairman and chief executive officer. The appointment comes after American casino mogul Sheldon Adelson, who built lavish gambling palaces that made him one of the world’s richest men, died earlier this month at 87. “I am determined to lead this company forward in a way that best honors his vision,” Goldstein said.

Sheldon Adelson was Las Vegas Sands’ CEO since its inception in the late 1980s.

Goldstein, who assumed the role of acting chairman and CEO on January 7, joined Las Vegas Sands company in 1995 and became a member of its board in 2015. He has served as president and chief operating officer since January 2015.

Goldstein has also held prominent roles at The Venetian and The Palazzo Las Vegas, two of the world’s best-known casinos on the Vegas gambling strip.

Las Vegas Sands also named Patrick Dumont as president and chief operating officer, and appointed Randy Hyzak as its finance chief.

“Mr. Adelson’s leadership guided us to the top of our industry, and his legacy lives on through the company’s 50,000 team members and the iconic properties he developed around the world,” Goldstein said in a statement.

“Our spirits have been dimmer in these few weeks since his passing, but the future of the company he founded shines bright. He would expect nothing less than an aggressive pursuit of the work he started, and I am determined to lead this company forward in a way that best honors his vision,” Goldstein concluded.
