Towards the Brazilian iGaming Summit

Fernando Garita: “BiS allows exchange of experiences and technological trends, this is positive”

Betcris, one of the fastest growing companies in the Latin American scene and with strong penetration in the Brazilian market, will be present at the Brazilian iGaming Summit (BiS) not only as an exhibitor, but also participating in a panel on “Sports Betting Operators”. Fernando Garita, firm's LATAM Business Development Director, says that “the exchange of information that BiS will allow is positive since experiences as well as technological trends can be shared.” According to him, regulation is close and other verticals will come “in due time”.

GMB - Did the Brazilian market need to have a face-to-face event of this level?
Fernando Garita
- The Brazilian market definitely needs formal events where all executives and government entities can talk and exchange points of view. The exchange of information that BiS will allow is positive since experiences as well as technological trends can be shared.

Can the strength of BiS and its dissemination in the media help to understand that this industry should be legalized for the benefit of the country?
I believe that the dissemination of media where the great benefits, not only economic, that can be generated with the regulation of the activity can be shared.

What topics will you cover or would like to develop on your panel?
Regulation, digital transformation, market, affiliates, omni-channel and processing I believe are very important points and should be present.

How do you analyze Brazil's growth this year specifically in the gaming market segment where you work and specialize? What are your expectations for 2022?
The Brazilian market is definitely growing at a very fast pace and many companies worldwide are interested in this market and the response of the Brazilian consumer stands out from the average in the region. Until 2022, we expect sustained growth, mainly because there are many numbers of products and brands that are coming, where consumers will be able to compare and have new content for their entertainment.

At what point do you see the local gaming market in general and its evolution in 2021 from a political and regulatory perspective?
We understand that a lot of work is being done in the regulatory process and we understand that it is not easy, there are many factors to consider, but the responsible entities are working hard and understand the potential of these products. 2020 and 2021 provided an important lesson based on digitization and I believe that not only private industry but also government entities are looking to achieve this digitization which we hope will be quick.

Were the results of Betcris' work this year as expected? Do you have plans in Brazil to grow and contribute more to the local market?
The results were definitely as expected and, as a hallmark, some of our strengths are adaptability, continuous growth and also keep improving with these pillars. We are going to invest in growth, but at the same time always providing a quality option and a first-class service to all our customers.

In the most recent discussions about gaming activity in Brazil, the main players believe the country is closer than ever to regulation. Do you share the same opinion? Do you believe it is possible to approve all game verticals in Brazil during this next year?
As for being close, I believe that we are already close to having the regulation and it is something that we really expect. With regard to gaming verticals, I believe it will be progressive, not all at once, but in due course the consumer will come asking for the new products.

All about the Brazilian iGaming Summit (BiS)

Due to the health crisis, several events, trade shows and congresses had to be postponed or even canceled throughout 2020 and 2021; however, with the advance of immunization across the country, things are slowly returning to normality. Thus, the Brazilian iGaming Summit (BiS) will take place at Espaço Boulevard JK, in São Paulo, on December 1st and 2nd with the strategic partnership of Games Magazine Brasil, and will be attended by investors and entrepreneurs from different sectors such as sports betting, communication, affiliates, lotteries and regulators. For the first time, it will take place in a hybrid model, with real-time broadcasts and big screens spread throughout the conference space.

To ensure the safety of guests, event organizers will respect all recommended health safety protocols. With this, BiS will be the return point of in-person events for the gaming sector in Brazil and a great opportunity to connect entrepreneurs of the gaming market to the country's political personalities and actors involved in the regulation process. They will discuss and analyze what will be the next steps to pass legislation for the sector, and what are the trends for the development of this market in Brazil.
