Call to participate in sports betting project in Brazil receives 38 registrations

As Games Magazine Brasil previously informed, the call of companies to participate in the Lottery concession project “Fixed Odds Betting” received 38 applications, as confirmed by the Investment Partnership Program (PPI) website. The next step will be the validation of the information presented in the RFI and the definition of criteria for the selection of companies, which will later be invited to the Request for Proposals (RFP).

The Fixed Quota Betting lottery was qualified in the PPI and included in the National Privatization Program (PND) through Decree nº 10.467 / 2020. Better known as “sports betting”, it is a public service of the Union, which can be transferred to the private sector through a concession or authorization process. The modality is a lottery in which the bettor tries to predict the result of real sporting events, such as, for example, scoreboard, number of cards, who will score the first goal, etc.

The objective is for privatization to contribute to expanding investment opportunities, stimulating the economy, increasing revenue, and generating jobs.

The BNDES, the body responsible for structuring and monitoring the project, opened a process to register companies interested in providing technical services. In the first phase, the Request for Information (RFI) was opened, between February 5-19, with the objective of mapping the interest and the relevant skills for structuring the service with companies operating in the market. 38 applications were received from companies interested in participating.

The next step will be the validation of the information presented in the RFI and the definition of the criteria for the selection of companies, which will later be invited to the Request for Proposals (RFP), for the next steps of the consultant selection process.
