C6 Bank debuts in eSports with KOEL in the Brazilian virtual football league

The global eSports market keeps growing and is expected to surpass the US$ 1 billion mark for the first time in 2021, according to data from Newzoo consultancy. Therefore, more and more companies are keeping an eye on this segment. In recent years, firms in the financial market such as Banco do Brasil, BS2, Digio, Mastercard, PicPay, Santander and Trigg have invested in this universe. Now, it is the turn of C6 Bank, as the new sponsor of the Kick-Off Electronic League (KOEL), a Brazilian virtual football competition.

The 2021 edition of the tournament begins next Monday (22) and runs until July 31. During this period, as the master sponsor of the event, along with Mastercard, C6 Bank will have its brand exposed in the matches' broadcasts, round tables and official reports, in a reality show and in a special series that will be aired by Amazon Prime showing the backstage of the championship.

Alexandra Pain, Marketing Director at C6 Bank, comments that the bank's debut in the gaming universe is yet another opportunity to get closer to a new audience. “The industry in Brazil is still starting and we want to grow with it. We see the possibility of approaching a young, digital, and super connected audience. We want to be part of this universe and, in the future, even develop products for this market,” she reinforces. "Our perception is that this modality will soon compete with traditional sports in advertising, sponsorship and merchandising spaces."

For Felipe Carvalho, CEO of 7WPlay, the agency responsible for the organization of KOEL, the arrival of a partner such as C6 Bank is proof of the potential of virtual sports for big brands. "This recognition allows for a growth in the scenario in Brazil, strengthens the teams and also enhances the emergence of new players," he points out.

The competition

KOEL brings together electronic sports clubs like BlackDragons, INTZ, TeamBundled and Lima Esports, and names like Paulo Neto, PHZIN and Pedro Resende. In 2021, it will be the first time that Brazilian virtual football will have a fixed competition calendar. In all, 16 teams, with team representatives from Brazil and the world, compete for the R$ 75,000 distributed in prizes. The final phase, named KOEL Finals C6 Bank, will have a broadcast event, following health protocols, in an electronic sports arena in São Paulo.

This season, the championship will also feature a series on Amazon Prime Video, which will show the backstage of the tournament, with the athletes' daily lives. In addition, KOEL will have a reality show in which it will go looking for a new e-football team. The idea is to give space to organizations that are emerging and encourage their participation in major championships. The winner joins the biggest virtual football teams in the country at KOEL Clubs 2022.

In 2020, Black Dragons was the champion. In this edition, KOEL registered more than one million unique viewers on the platforms that hold the official broadcasting rights of the League: Band Sports, Dazn, Twitche Twitter.
