Betano donates food baskets to culture professionals with help of its employees

Betano Portugal supported ‘União Audiovisual’, an association created to help professionals in the cultural sector affected economically by COVID-19, through a donation of 10,000 euros that will be converted into the purchase of about 100 food baskets to be delivered to families. The action is part of Betano Portugal's social responsibility policy, through the Heróis Betano program, which aims to work with society, contributing to help those in a vulnerable context.

Ricardo Branquinho da Fonseca, Country Manager at Betano Portugal, points out that “culture was one of the sectors most affected by the pandemic, with concert halls closed, many people without work and, consequently, without income. With this contribution, we hope to be able to help some families overcome this moment.”

The value was raised through an internal initiative by Kaizen Gaming, Betano's parent company, which launched the challenge to its employees to run for a cause. For each kilometer traveled, the company allocated an amount, which allowed it to raise a total of more than 33 thousand euros to donate to three non-profit organizations in Portugal, Greece, and Romania.

Over the past few months, more than 300 company employees in Portugal, Greece, Romania, Cyprus, Brazil, and Germany joined the initiative and ran more than 16,000 km. The action also aimed to boost the physical activity of employees and combat sedentary lifestyle during the context of confinement.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Betano Portugal, through its social responsibility program, has carried out several initiatives to support different sectors of society, such as the joint donation with SC Braga Solidário of hospital material or the Servir Heróis initiative, which supported catering and served more than 5,000 meals to health professionals in the first line of combat against COVID-19.
