eSports streaming reached almost 30 billion hours watched in 2020

The past year has been remarkable for live streaming platforms, as the rules of social isolation have made broadcasts even more attractive to millions of people. In 2020, the three main eSports platforms - Twitch, YouTube Game and Facebook Gaming - reached almost 30 billion hours watched, 78% more than before the health crisis, according to 123scommesse. In the first quarter of 2021, the numbers soared even more.

Data from Streamlab and Stream Hatchet indicate that the total hours watched on YouTube Gaming doubled in 2020 and reached 6.19 billion.

On Facebook Gaming, this metric almost tripled, reaching 3.1 billion hours, compared to 1.09 billion in 2019.

With a focus on broadcasting programs and sports content, Twitch led the way in live streams, with a total of 18.4 billion hours watched in 2020.

In the first quarter of 2021, the numbers soared even more. 123scommesse statistics show that viewers around the world watched 6.3 billion hours of content on Twitch between January and March, compared with 3.2 billion in 2020.

In the first quarter of 2021 alone, the three most popular platforms have already accumulated a total of 8.8 billion hours watched, an increase of 80% in the annual comparison.
