Playtech partners with Holland Casino ahead of Dutch market’s opening

Playtech has signed a new, expanded long-term partnership agreement with the Netherlands’ state-owned land-based casino operator, Holland Casino, in anticipation of the opening of the nation’s online gaming and sports betting market. Playtech CEO Mor Weizer comments that their goal is to “offer the highest quality, most comprehensive responsible gambling entertainment experience across retail and online in the Dutch market.”

The new software and services deal marks an important strategic step for Playtech and builds on its track record of participating in the development and growth of newly-regulated online gambling markets.

Holland Casino currently runs 14 casinos around the Netherlands. The company plans to expand into the online realm and to offer both casino-style gaming and wagering products.

Under the terms of its agreement with Holland Casino, Playtech has become the casino operator’s strategic gambling technology supplier. The provider will deliver its full turnkey omni-channel technology to its operator partner as well as certain ancillary services.

Playtech further announced that it would build a Live Casino studio in the immediate vicinity of one of Holland casino’s land-based locations.

After a lengthy legislative process that hit many bumps and obstacles over a number of years, the Netherlands is set to reorganize its Internet gambling market in a manner that will allow international companies to obtain licenses from the local regulator, Kansspelautoriteit, and operate in a regulated environment. The local market is expected to finally open this coming October.

Of their latest important announcement, Playtech CEO Mor Weizer said that they are delighted to form this “strategic cooperation with Holland Casino” and that their partner’s brand strength and local presence paired with Playtech’s more than 20 decades of gambling technology leadership will see them “drive the online growth of the market” in the Netherlands.

Weizer further noted that they are looking forward to working with Holland Casino and together offer “the highest quality, most comprehensive responsible gambling entertainment experience across retail and online in the Dutch market.”

Playtech and Holland Casino first teamed up in late 2013 when the major technology and online casino content provider won a competitive tender process to develop and power an online gaming platform for the operator. At the time, the country’s online gambling market was expected to be reorganized by 2015.
