Colatina becomes first municipality to explore lotteries in Brazilian state of Espírito Santo

Monday this week, the City Council approved Bill 147/2021 that creates the Municipal Lottery in Colatina, which becomes the first municipality in the state of Espírito Santo to explore the service. The initiative, aimed at the exploration of games and entertainment in the lottery modality already approved by federal law, will be supervised by the Executive Branch, through the Municipal Secretariat of Finance.

Colatina is a municipality and the seventh most populous city in the state of Espírito Santo, in Brazil.

In the second ballot it was approved Bill 147/2021, which institutes the Municipal Lottery of Colatina, in Espírito Santo. The bill, sent to the City Council by Mayor Guerino Balestrassi, provides for the creation of the lottery, which will allow the city to explore any lottery modalities that have been legalized by federal law.

The funds raised, as well as prizes not withdrawn by players within 90 days, will be allocated to public investments in programs in the areas of education, technological innovation, culture, sport, leisure, tourism, etc.

The project foresees the capture of bets or ticket sales through physical or virtual means. Finance Ministry will issue the complementary rules necessary for the regulation and implementation of the lottery, which will be explored through public bidding.

The bill was approved in record time, as it was sent by Mayor Balestrassi to the Chamber of Aldermen on August 10th.
