Twitter rankings reinforce Brazil as eSports epicenter in 2021

Twitter Blog released the platform's final rankings on eSports in 2021. Brazil could not be missing from this list, as it was the fifth country in the world to tweet the most about games. LOUD led the ranking of organizations that gained the most followers. The released data also show Brazil at the top in other lists. Nobru and Fallen are listed in sixth and seventh place, respectively, as the most cited athletes. In the ranking of the most commented tournaments, the Brazilian League of Legends Championship (CBLOL) ranks first.

In 2021, Twitter continued to be a meeting point for game developers, streamers, content creators, leagues, teams, players and commentators. In all, more than 2.4 billion Tweets about games were recorded in the year, an increase of 14% compared to 2020 and 10 times greater than in 2017. Q4 2021 was the quarter with the highest volume of conversations about the topic in the history of Twitter.

In Brazil, conversations on the topic had great repercussions: the country ranked fifth in the list of countries that tweeted the most about games last year. Among the most talked about athletes around the world are the Brazilians @Nobru (6th) and @FalleNCS (7th).

The country also stood out among the most cited teams, with the leadership of @LOUDgg and the presence of @paiNGamingBR and @FURIA on the list. LOUD topped the ranking of organizations that gained the most followers in 2021 on Twitter, beating orgs such as FaZe Clan, Sentinels, 100 Thieves and G2.

In addition, the Brazilian team LOUD esports was the one that gained the most followers globally in 2021 and @CBLOL was the most talked about championship worldwide.

LOUD consolidated itself even further in esports in 2021, largely due to the announcement of several influencers linked not only to the middle of games, but also to traditional sports and music. The organization has also entered new modalities such as League of Legends and should soon announce its Valorant team.

Currently, LOUD's profile on Twitter has more than 1 million followers and its last ad has already surpassed 1 million views. The organization is well-known for dragging a crowd of fans, who most of the time, go up hashtags related to teams/members with the greatest ease, so it's no surprise to be at the top of this list.

Throughout the year, the gaming community from around the world took to Twitter to talk about the biggest moments. As in-person eSports events returned, publishers released new games such as Halo Infinite, the media continued to expand coverage of the topic, and NFTs became a major highlight.
