Mega da Virada 2021: More than 333 million bets and US$ 270m in revenue

CAIXA Lotteries broke all records in 2021. The volume of game sales was the highest in history. In Mega da Virada alone, more than 333 million bets were placed across Brazil, totaling more than R$1.51 billion (US$ 270m) in revenue, 28.0% more than last year, and 70.4% more than in 2018. The super prize came out for two bets, which will divide the biggest prize in the history of CAIXA Lotteries. Each winning bet will receive R$189,062,363.74 (US$ 3.97m).

The Mega da Virada 2021, the special Mega-Sena contest 2,440, raffled off a prize of more than R$378 million (US$ 67.8m). The winning numbers were 12 – 15 – 23 – 32 – 33 and 46, and the super prize went to two bets, which will share the biggest prize in the history of CAIXA Lotteries. Each winning bet will receive R$189,062,363.74 (US$ 3.97m).

CAIXA Lotteries broke all records in 2021. The volume of game sales was the highest in history. The collection reached R$ 18.5 billion (US$ 3.31bln) in all types of games, 8.2% higher than the previous record of R$ 17.1 billion (US$ 3.06bln) in 2020. If compared to 2018, the prize is 34.1% higher. This demonstrates the efficiency and seriousness of this management, also in Lotteries.

To crown all this success of the CAIXA Lotteries, the Mega da Virada 2021 special contest, registered a sale of more than 333 million bets across the country, totaling more than R$ 1.51 billion (US$ 270m) in revenue, 28.0% more than last year, and 70.4% more than in 2018.

The winning bets are from Cabo Frio (RJ) and Campinas (SP). Among the winners, one bet was a combined ticket: in Campinas, a raffle with 14 odds was won. In the second prize pool, hitting five numbers, 1,712 players will win R$ 50,861.33 (US$ 9,124) each, and the 143,494 players who matched four numbers will receive R$ 866.88 (US$ 156) each.

All this success also generates a transfer of R$ 8.4 billion (US 1.5bln) in social benefits, such as for the INSS, Public Security, Sports and Culture, in addition to the payment of income tax. The prizes offered were R$5.9 billion (US$ 1.05) and impact the lives of millions of Brazilians.

Winners should also be aware of dates. CAIXA Lotteries prizes expire in 90 days from the date of the draw. After this period, the prescribed prizes is fully transferred to the Higher Education Financing Fund (FIES), pursuant to Law 13,756/18.
