Alejandro Ortiz: “Brazil needs to reinvent itself with a open gaming market and free competition”

In conversation with Games Magazine Brasil during the G2E, Alejandro Ortiz, founder and CEO of Ortiz Gaming, said that this year’s edition has surpassed itself and “returned to normal” after the pandemic. The company has launched a new family of bingo machines with numerous differences, as well as a line of reels. As a firm from Brazil, Ortiz hopes that the new gaming law can regulate the sector in the country to operate in the home market.

Ortiz Gaming, a company with Brazilian DNA and a global presence, especially in the area of bingo machines, was present at the Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas, to present the news for the sector. In an exclusive conversation with GMB, Alejandro Ortiz, founder and CEO, said that the company presented a new family of bingo machines, with different jackpot levels, links and math.

GMB – How do you see the fair this year, in what seems to be the real return to normality for the sector?
Alejandro Ortiz
– After the pandemic, like all over the world, the fair had a downturn. Last year's was little visited, due to the problems caused by the pandemic. But what can be seen is that this edition is the one with the most visitors, with all the stands full, hotels full and restaurants also full. It's back to normal.

In other words, it's a full industry. An active industry!
Super active, growing and thriving. It's reinventing itself and that's what it has to be.

Speaking of reinventing itself, what's new for Ortiz Gaming at this Global Gaming Expo?
We are releasing some news. In the bingo part, we are presenting a bingo with different jackpot levels and links, as well as a different math and graphics part. In addition, we are debuting the reel machines here at G2E and hope to have the same success we have with the bingo machines.

It is also a reinvention of Ortiz Gaming. The market asks for it!
The market always obliges us, not only asks us. We are forced to reinvent ourselves all the time, because the formula for success when you are on the crest of the wave is reinvention.

How are you in the United States, where Ortiz Gaming has a strong presence?
We operate throughout America, Europe and Asia. The markets are coming back and our expectation is to increase the market share little by little.

And as for the Brazilian market, what do you expect regarding the regulation of sports betting and the legalization of other verticals?
Sports betting is allowed, lacking the regulation, which has been expected for four years. But sports betting is already a reality. What we hope is that a well-designed law can come to serve the market and that it will be as broad as possible. It is enough to see here in the United States and in many other countries, the strength of this market. People often confuse what the gaming sector is. Deep down, it's an entertainment market and that's our market. So, we hope that this law can come and be regulated and that companies like ours, from Brazil, can operate in the market of origin. The best market is the open and free market, which makes you reinvent yourself. Brazil needs to reinvent itself.
