Pedro Extremera: “With regulation and more business, Playtech will install an office in Brazil”

Playtech, one of the major global players in the gaming sector, participated at G2E to show its solutions for the markets where it is present. Talking to GMB, Pedro Extremera, regional director LatAm, said that the highlights were the more than 250 slot games and the three live casino studios installed in the US, two of which are already in operation. About Brazil, he guaranteed that as soon as the market is regulated and business grows, they will install a unit in the country.

Playtech had an important participation last week in the Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas, where it presented more than 250 casino slots, its poker solutions and the company's betting platform.

In an exclusive conversation with GMB, Pedro Extremera, regional director for Spain, Portugal and LatAm, commented that Playtech also took advantage of the moment to announce the start-up of two live casino studios in the United States (New Jersey and Michigan) and the one from Pennsylvania, about to start activities.

GMB – What is your impression of the Global Gaming Expo?
Pedro Extremera
– The Las Vegas fair, as always, is one of the best in the world in terms of gambling.

As one of the biggest companies in this ecosystem, what's new for this market?
For the US market, we have over 250 slot games for casinos and touting our live gaming studios opened in New Jersey and Michigan, and in the process of opening a new facility in Pennsylvania. We also have betting, both face-to-face and online, as well as poker, which we are bringing to this market, as well as our betting platform.

Besides the United States, what are the main markets for Playtech?
We have been in the market for over 20 years as a global player in the gaming industry. We operate in all European markets and continue to work globally for the benefit of the activity around the world.

And how do you see the growth of the LatAm market, where Peru has just legalized sports betting, Chile is dealing with it and Buenos Aires is already operating and with its legislation already in place?
For us, Latin America is a very important region. We are hiring more people to serve this important market more closely to help our customers. Business is doing very well on the continent in many ways and we want to be in all regulated jurisdictions as we are in Europe.

And what about Brazil, which is close to having regulation?
I liked the term "close". It's a phrase I've been hearing for a long time. But we have high expectations that it will soon be regulated, as we see the numbers that are emerging and we know that there is enormous potential for the Brazilian market.

With the regulation, what’s Playtech idea? Do you have plans to install a unit in the country?
As in all markets where we operate, as soon as we have more business and regulations, we will install an office in the country to consolidate the market in Brazil as well.
