Uruguayan Football Association receives integrity workshops from Sportradar

The Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) has started an integrity program for players and managers of its competitions, developed and implemented by Sportradar, with the aim of identifying match-fixing and protecting the sport. Altogether, six meetings are part of the program developed by the company.

Sportradar's program features unique and personalized educational content, using interactive learning and real-life situations to highlight the risks and potential circumstances of match-fixing. During the workshops, Sportradar provides relevant information drawn from the company's extensive experience in monitoring, detecting and investigating match-fixing around the world.

In all, six workshops are planned for the national professional teams of Uruguay U17, U20 and main male and female teams. The first session took place last week at the AUF Celeste Complex with a youth u-20 team, with the next scheduled according to country's competition schedule. The workshop was run by Juan Matías Mendez, manager integrity partnerships LatAm of Sportradar.

Sportradar's Universal Fraud Detection System (UFDS) is in operation at the AUF First and Second Professional Division Championships through an agreement the company signed with FIFA and CONMEBOL in 2017. In addition, since 2021 the third and fourth national divisions began to be monitored after an agreement between AUF and Sportradar, which added the monitoring of the remaining competitions of the entity.

Andreas Krannich, Director of Integrity Services at Sportradar, said: "Sportradar Integrity Services offers educational workshops for clubs and partner leagues every year around the world. We are honored that AUF has chosen us for this vital initiative and we look forward to working together in the fight against match-fixing and to protect Uruguayan football."

The manipulation of results continues to be a constant and growing threat in the world of sport. The year 2022 is on track to set the record for having the highest number of suspicious matches in UFDS history with the probability of reaching 1,000 suspicious matches for the first time.

Education and Integrity Prevention programs are part of Sportradar's Universal Fraud Detection System (UFDS).
