“Betcris has plans to invest a lot in Brazil in the coming years including a large office”

Betcris, one of the most important sports betting operators in Brazil, has big plans as soon as the regulation of the sector arrives. In an exclusive conversation with GMB, Fernando Garita, director of business development, said that it is a joy to be in the country and that “we already feel that Brazil is our home.” According to the executive, business is growing and it would be very important for the government to move forward with regulation because “we are a great generator of jobs and important in terms of taxes.”

Betcris' plans for Brazil, as soon as the regulation of sports betting is finalized, is to install a large office in the country, as Fernando Garita, director of business development, told GMB in an exclusive interview. “Brazil deserves this, so it is in our plans to grow organically with the market.”

GMB – Almost every day we see Betcris at football games in Brazil. And sometimes we see Fernando Garita, director of business development at Betcris for LATAM. Welcome to Brazil. How did you see BiS 2022?
Fernando Garita
– A joy to be in Brazil again. We've felt that Brazil is our home since we first set foot in the country, where everyone is passionate about the sport and the way people interact with our site. Speechless, because this type of event helps us to be present with the industry, united and we hope to continue growing and supporting the sector. We are very happy.

How is Betcris' business in Brazil?
They are doing well, and keeps growing, like most companies. Little by little people are getting used to the activity, following more and more the teams and sponsorships. I believe that in three or four years it will be another world. As I always say at conferences we attend, we are a big generator of jobs and very important to governments in terms of taxes. All this is a good environment for entertainment and passion for the sport.

Betcris has a very strong position in support of sports. In Brazil they are with Ceará, Fortaleza... What else will the company do in Brazil for sports?
At the moment we are evaluating some themes with leagues because this is the idea. To be in all regions and countries with advertising actions, occasional sponsorships and brand ambassadors with important and recognized people in the country. Brazil will be no exception and we are working on a plan for the next two years, planning everything for that period. And you can look forward to good things to come. We are very happy to be here as in our home. Thank you for all the reception we have from the Brazilian family to Betcris.

And having Ronaldinho Gaúcho as the man of the Betcris brand is already an emotion!
Clear. Ronaldinho is what the Brazilian symbolizes. He is a dear person in the world, cheerful, with talent and many things. When we decided to work with him it was precisely that. Getting to the heart and feeling Brazilian. And as I always say, in Brazil they don't speak Portuguese, they speak 'Brazilian'. And that's what we want to do.

And how is the Latin market in general for Betcris?
It's doing great and growing. Central American countries are increasing consumption and opening up new opportunities, as is the case here. Argentina is in our plans and we have Mexico, which is an excellent market, more mature for years. In fact, we moved on. Last year we were fortunate to be the first Latin company to open a sports betting operation in Europe, in Poland. If European companies come here, why not go there?

What do you expect from the regulation of sports betting in Brazil?
The most important thing we hope, ‘Oxalá’, is that it arrives soon, with clear rules and that it is balanced to favor the activity. As I mentioned before, to generate more jobs and benefits for the country.

What will happen to Betcris with the regulation? Maybe a big office in Brazil?
Very possibly. Brazil deserves this, so it is in our plans to grow organically with the market.
